Fashion; the most brilliant thing ever
Because I want to give a good impression of myself to everyone (wanting to appear smart, clever, witty and intelligent) I want to share with you some of my ideas. As everyone knows, I'm still studying fashion, supposed to get my degree this year. My thesis is based on stuff, like dandies and punks. To me (of course) all my ideas make perfect sense and I do feel like the smartest person ever to involved in the world of fashion. But, no matter how much I already rock, I still need some backup. For that I'm turning towards (mostly French) philosophers and "great thinkers". Obviously I don't understand half of what I read but I look quite good holding a real book in my hands, sipping latte on a terrace by the river.
The next issue on my agenda is to.. try to understand so many people on this planet. Or well, not really try to understand but more just to be confused by the amount of stupidity. As everyone knows, I love love love grey sweaters. So, when I stumbled to this site I first thought I was going to be thrilled. Turned out I was everything but. Why would anyone think that grey sweaters or sweatsuits would be revolutionary in the world of fashion? Or is it just me, the loyal friend and follower? In the bigger picture I've never really understood why people have so much issues with fashion. Or try to be, in one way or another, anti-fashion. It never really works and everyone just ends up being a stereotype. And that's what I love about fashion.
But I'm not really trying to be.. well, anything. I love grey sweaters and if anyone asks me to be involved in a revolution that's even remotely connected to grey sweaters just count me in. But it could never be anti-fashion (cause that doesn't really exist). It's going to be just fabulous.
And all this reminds me that I really should get new clothes for the summer. And what i was babbling in the previous post about my friend I'd like to have a vision or a style in my head if what I'd like to look like. Yes, there is the sailor-look that's always right, but it could be nice to have a plan b, too.
"The ultimate rebellion is to be generic and very comfortable. Fuck using clothes as a form of expression. Think of something more valid, like what you do with your time or what you have to say. See what happens when your clothes don’t speak for you. Oh shit! How will I be cool? Maybe I’ll have to participate in something…"
And then you wear a grey sweatsuit to express your thoughts of not letting your clothes speak for you... how very clever.
I'm just about to write a post about this same subject, but more from a consumerism point of view. Stay tuned.
